The TAHUNA TOOL is at the heart of TAHUNA’s success, drawing together all the threads of your route plan via a centralized interactive platform for Windows and Mac. The TAHUNA TOOL allows you to:
Route-planning software is integrated into the TAHUNA TOOL, enabling you to plan an individually customized route quickly and easily from your PC – both online and offline.
It gives you the option of specifying your route point by point on the detailed map, or drawing it freehand using the mouse and the “Draw & Plan” function. In addition to planning for yourself on the map, you can also – as with the satnav in your car – simply enter a start point and a destination to get a suggested route. If you choose the easiest route, for instance, your suggested trip will be the one with the least ascent. The TAHUNA maps are also available in the TOOL without internet connection. Online features such as PoIs from Wikipedia or satellite maps ensure a more comfortable route-planning.
Planning is half the journey – after you have put together an individual route using TOUR CREATOR, you can further enhance your route with useful information such as pictures and custom descriptions.
You can identify the best rest points and most spectacular views and sights, note them directly on your route as Points of Interest, and add pictures, descriptions and important information such as entrance charges and opening times to make getting around even easier.
That way you can turn a simple route into your personal electronic tour guide. TAHUNA software will display all Points of Interest, descriptions and pictures for your route directly on your GPS device or smartphone during navigation.
With the help of PDF Creator, you can also print off your routes from the TAHUNA TOOL as a handy leaflet including route description, POIs, pictures and altitude profile. This means you not only have a digital version of your route on your GPS device or smartphone, but also a compact paper version that you can carry with you. A practical idea, especially for long routes or if your battery is running low.
And you can also give your printed TAHUNA route including photos and descriptions to any hiking or biking enthusiasts amongst your friends who might want to try it.
The basis for your routes is the free maps provided to your navigation device via TAHUNA software, and which can be centrally accessed from the TAHUNA TOOL.
Maps for the whole of Europe and North and South America are available for you to download, and it’s child’s play to import and export maps between the tool and your connected device. Just connect your device, choose the maps you want and transfer them. All maps are stored permanently for you in the TAHUNA TOOL and can be reloaded to your device at any time, so there’s no need to be worried that you’ll delete them by mistake.
TAHUNA maps for navigation devices are based on OpenStreetMap, OpenPisteMap and OpenSeaMap. At least 2 map updates per year guarantee that you will always have the latest versions. The range of maps available is also being continually expanded. New maps are automatically available to you in the TAHUNA TOOL.
TAHUNA also supports various raster maps supplied by KOMPASS and MagicMaps, as well as maps you create using MBTiles.
The Phototagging function enables you to quickly and easily update any of your routes with individual Points of Interest and photos taken along the way.
The TAHUNA TOOL will automatically position photos correctly on the route as Points of Interest using the time stamp. You can then give these individual Points of Interest a title and add personal comments.
The TAHUNA TOOL allows you to save and manage both your own routes and downloaded routes. TAHUNA Guide Books function as your own personal trip library.
Guide Books are like personal folders that you can give an individual name, where you can store your trips by theme, region, date etc.
Along with routes you have planned for your next trip, you can also file completed routes as personal mementos. Each route can be displayed and assessed in detail by terrain, description, length, altitude, average speed and most beautiful Points of Interest.
If you’re particularly proud of some of your itineraries and want to share them, you can even release your Guide Book to us for publication. We’ll review it quickly and make it available to all users via the TAHUNA TOOL.
Premium guide books
The TAHUNA TOOL also gives you access free of charge to high quality premium guide books from tour operators, for example Best of Wandern, KOMPASS and Bergverlag Rother. The collection is continually being expanded, so you will always have new books with first-rate tours at your fingertips.
To make the route you have planned even better, the TAHUNA TOOL also provides you with plenty of other relevant recommendations for books and accessories.
Thanks to a direct link in the TAHUNA TOOL you can log on to the tour platforms Bikemap.net, Wandermap.net, GPSies and RouteYou. Import tours into the TOOL and access them via your GPS device or smartphone.
